What i wish i knew before going into labour/warded? #hospital bag

 To expect the expected. To expect to have to be warded at least 3days max 5days. I read a lot of blog what to bring and all, but non of them explain why and be specific. We all need to know why to understand better right? Or is it just me? I wish someone would tell me this. Bear in mind this is if u are delivering at a gov or semi gov hospital. Coz at gov u do everything ur self. No nurse will help u change ur baby diaper, they got other things to do. So What to prepare? 


Baby; 

hospital love baby to wear short sleeve and a 2piece. So bring 5 sets. Why short sleeve? Its easy for them fo run test at the baby, if they need too. Dont worry about the baby being cold coz they will wrap ur baby. Dont forget to learn too if u there, or before labour. Important!


Pampers approximately 12pieces a day coz u need to change every 2hours even if it is just pee. Like I always said to my husband, would u still want to wear the same pants if u know u already pee on it? (Thats another story to tell). Plus it’s also a way of u to wake the newborn to feed. I know at that time we are just tired but who will take care of our baby if its not us right? So 12 a day equal to 60 pieces for 5 days.


Wet wipes, obviously when u at the hospital less walk is good. So wet wipes it is! I would suggest to bring 2pack of 100 wipes. If u a newbie like me at that time i would bring 5pack. Dont be stingy too. Dont wipe and re-wipe using the same side/tissue. 


Mitten, stokin and head cover. 5 sets. Just to make sure baby is all covered. 😉


Napkin. Buy the gauze type. And the bigger the better. Easy for u to wrap and the longer u can used it. Bring 5. 1day 1napkin. I didn’t really use mine because i bought the other type, and i think that is abit hot for the baby. And at that time they are using theirs too but u can also use it to wipe if baby vomit or puke at u. It is very handy. 


So for the mother, what to bring?


Dont bother to bring so much cloth. Coz u be wearing hospital cloth until the day they said u free to go home. 1set of going home cloth is okey. Make sure cloth is breastfeed friendly and caesarean or normal friendly. I would suggest a dress. Coz its 2020 u dont really wanna go out from the hospital wearing “kain batik” right? 


Tudung sarung is a must. Just a sarung a way from the harams. Haha. 


Bring breastfeed friendly bra, honestly dont bother with the fancy one with a lace and all. Just bring the one that at shopee rm10. Better! Seriously! U can bring 5 for hygiene purposes. Coz u will be breastfeed. Or a breastpad also helps.


Pad. 2 options. If u wan to wear the pants and pad type buy the “Whisper Koala Incontinence Underwear Ultra Thin 2 PCS/ Pack”. Very comfortable. The 1st 3days, it will be heavy so this is good. But if u like me, like to change every time u go to the toilet, I suggest to bring a comfortable period panties that is either too low or too high coz if u undergo caesarean, we wan the panties to go over the wound or below the wound. Ur preference. And some pad obviously. I undergo caesarean, so my blood is not that much i feel. I feel like if i wear the every day pad is enough since i will change often. This i can’t advise how much. Because its ur preference on how often will u change.


Toiletries, Towel body and small towel. Obviously we need to take a shower. I didn’t bring a shampoo. Coz i don’t expect to stay up until 5days. I wish i did.  Oh bring slippers too.


Socks. The hospital will ask u to buy a compress socks that is special measured for u. But it doesn’t cover ur toes and “pantang” no 1 rules wear socks right? So ur preference. I didn’t wear any. Dont see the point of it. Till this day. So again ur preference.


To bring or not to bring breast-pump? Yes if throughout your pregnancy u experience leaking. Like i did. I wish i was given a heads-up that i will experience a really soreness breast and super confuse about it, don’t know what to do. Yes also if you have flat nipple (there’s other options for this too). In conclusion, just bring. We never know how long u need to stay at the hospital right? Not to forget storage bag/bottle with a market. The hospital have freezer for u to store too, if u wondering. 


lastly, your pink book or checkup book.

Why caesarean?

At 22weeks, did an ultrasound and the baby head is a bit big. I was asked to take the sugar drink to check my sugar level. At 37weeks, i undergo ECV where the doctor at hukm push the baby head into head-down position. Coz at that time the baby is still head-up position or breech, i was given an option to either do ECV, caesarean or baby come out bum 1st. Baby come out bum 1st was never an option for the doc, we the doctor advice too risky. Honestly, I already make up my mind to just accept caesarean as an option. But the doctor insisted to do ECV coz of my age, the position of the baby and etc. She so insisted that she even left me speechless and just agreed to do ECV. The ECV was successful.  On the 1/7/2020 blood come out. My sister advised to wait for a contraction every 5minutes. Around 4am i experience stomach pain, the kind of pain that I just can’t handle and cant really sleep. What do i learn with Aleesa as a baby? 1st baby.

That you need to be alert. Alert on her cues, Movement means hungry or something is wrong. To change diapers every 2 hours and feed after.  Don't be stingy on diapers or lazy. Coz as a mother once you see’s the rashes the baby will have due to your stinginess or laziness it break your heart and you start to blame yourself. And not to forget feed the baby. Don't wait until the baby ask u to feed her, because if you do that is when you will encounter a "Hangry baby" simply because they are hungry and angry. At least try. Yes. there will be a day that the baby will be overfeed and the baby will throw up and you start to feel like should I still feed the baby? Yes! Feed her! She smart. She’ll learn when to stop. You, stop worrying so much. You done your best. Try to do everything in sequence or consistence. So she know her cues. For example, take a shower at 8am and 5pm everyday.
